THE WOMAN IN RED (1984)

The Movie

The Woman In Red, directed by and starring Gene Wilder, was a remake of the 1976 French film “Un Éléphant Ça Trompe Énormément” (aka “Pardon Mon Affaire”). At its core the movie was a comedy and despite critics questioning the relevance of its sub-plots it went on to become the most successful of the four films directed by Wilder. The eponymous leading lady was the first film role for an already successful model, Kelly Le Brock. The soundtrack included songs by Little Stevie Wonder and Dionne Warwick, one of which, ‘I just called To Say I Love You’, won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song. Most of the filming took place at locations in San Francisco and Los Angeles from October through December 1983 and the movie was released August 15, 1984.

When he sees her In his office applying to be the face of the city’s Cable Car Reopening ad campaign, hilarity ensues as his efforts to contact her are accidentally intercepted by a rather plain co-worker, Ms. Milner (Gilder Radner) who, unbeknownst to Teddy, happens to have the hots for him.
